- MARLEY -- Ziggy Marley Interview

- Andrea Chase
When I spoke with Ziggy Marley on April 19, 2012, the first thing I wanted to know is how he felt when he found out that his father's lyrics had been part of the Arab Spring. The conversation continued with why he chose Kevin McDonald to direct the documentary about Bob, the roots of reggae, and how he's learned to overcome fear after seeing both his parents survive assasination attempts.

Intro and Outro
INTRO:Andrea Chase takes you Behind the Scenes of MARLEY with reggae master Ziggy Marley. MARLEY is the documentary about his father, Bob Marley, that places the reggae legend in the political and cultural context of his very turbulent times. Filmmaker Kevin MacDonald traces both the personal history of the half-white outcast dismissed out of hand by his white English family who rose to fame with a keen political consciousness, and the effect that his success had on both oppressed people around the world and those who had been doing the oppressing, all with an insistent reggae beat and words that cut like a knife while also healing the wound. Ziggy started in the music business as the behest of his father, and has gone on to make his own mark in the world of reggae.
