Spring for Music showcases some of North America’s most exciting orchestras at Carnegie Hall. In Program 4, the Alabama Symphony juxtaposes the current with the canonic in their Carnegie Hall debut. Two New York premieres – Avner Dorman’s Astrolatry, and Paul Lansky’s Shapeshifters for Two Pianos and Orchestra, both Alabama Symphony Orchestra commissions – are paired with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7. Music director Justin Brown, also making his Carnegie Hall debut, conducts, with piano soloists Quattro Mani. Available May 11, 2012
