MUSIC IN
JUNE CROSS - Every family has secrets. In my family, the secret was me.
JAY: When a good story starts, you surrender a little. You let go of your own world and let the story take over.
JUNE CROSS: I was secret because I was black. These days, you'd say I was bi-racial. But in the '50s when you were born, there was no bi-racial. You were either born black or you were born white. End of story.
JAY: But it's not the end of the story, it's the beginning. That's June Cross telling just one of the remarkable stories public radio brings you. I'm Jay Allison producer of The Moth Radio Hour and we depend on you to support the stories on public radio by supporting your public radio station. If stories matter to you, from beginning to end, let your station know. Get in touch. Thanks.
