While attacks from the right on President Obama and his administration have been unrelenting, progressives have not shrunk from harsh words for a president whose election they once pronounced as an historic triumph. Theologian and author Gary Dorrien has not hesitate to criticize Obama, but hearing time and again the litany of betrayal as he meets progressives, Dorrien rises to Obama's defense in his new book. Read the full description.

Gary-dorrien_small In his book, The Obama Question, Dorrien takes to task his fellow progressives, faulting them for a curious refusal to acknowledge Obama's historic achievements. He revisits Obama's road to the White House and devotes chapters to critical issues of his presidency, ncluding the economy, health care, budget deficit and banking regulation.  The result is a critical work, far from fawning, that will stand as an insightful evaluation of a tumultuous presidency long after the next election cycle.
