A Common Chord: A five-part feature series is inspired by South Central Indiana’s thriving music scene. From venues, to record stores, musicians to recording studios, we lend you an intimate look into the lives of local musicians and those who support them.
Part 5: Record Stores
In this segment, correspondent Ryan Dawes spotlights 2 local record stores: TD's LPs and Landlocked Music, each operated by local residents who have transformed their love for collecting music into a lucrative endeavor. They credit the diverse taste of the community and other loyal collectors for their continued profits. However, with the advance of streaming and downloading services offered on-line, these stores have had to adapt to an increasingly competitive market that is less friendly to the sale of physical releases. Justin Vollmar and Jason Nickey tell their tales of staying relevant in the digital age.
