FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES part 1
OUR GUEST TODAY IS TRISH HACK-RUBINSTEIN, PRESIDENT AND CO-FOUNDER OF THE FRIENDS OF FRESH AND GREEN ACADEMY, A SCHOOL FOR IMPOVERISHED CHILDREN IN ADDIS ABABA, ETHIOPIA. ALTHOUGH SHE’S BEEN A FLIGHT ATTENDENT FOR OVER 25 YEARS, TRISH HACK-RUBINSTEIN HAS FELT THE NEED TO BE INVOLVED IN THE LIVES OF THE SICK, THE POOR, AND DISABLED SINCE HER YOUTH. AND WHEN TRISH FIRST VISITED ETHIOPIA IN 2008, SHE INSTANTLY FELT A CONNECTION TO THE SCHOOL, THE PEOPLE, AND THE COUNTRY.

AS PRESIDENT AND CO-FOUNDER, TRISH HACK-RUBINSTEIN TRAVELS TO ETHIOPIA SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR TO ENSURE THE CONTINUATION AND SUCCESS OF THE FRESH AND GREEN ACADEMY, BUT THE STORY OF THE SCHOOL ITSELF ACTUALLY STARTS IN 2000, WHEN A LOCAL TEACHER, MUDAY MITIKU STARTED THE FRESH AND GREEN ACADEMY IN ADDIS ABABA. FRESH AND GREEN ACADEMY’S MISSION IS TO PROVIDE DAILY MEALS, A WELL-ROUNDED EDUCATION AND ACCESS TO ADEQUATE MEDICAL CARE TO THE CHILDREN IN THE YEKA KITEME NEIGHBORHOOD OF ADDIS ABABA.
