What better way to kick off our inaugural episode than to to go up to New Hampshire and fire a machine gun. Live free or die, baby. Author Harlyn Aizley tells us a story about finding a gun in her dad's underwear drawer, and Lance Anderson explains why you shouldn't keep a loaded shotgun in the house. This is a clean version of this episode, with all the naughty words bleeped out (except for one mention of "half-assed" at 22:15, which most stations shouldn't have a problem with airing). The final segment, which admittedly ran on a bit too long in the original version, has been shortened.

Review of Love & Radio: With a Bullet (clean and short)Let?s admit up front that this reviewer is the perfect target ? the program has all the attributes that I fall for big time: it's modern-sounding, edgy and sonic with dead-on clean and subtle recording and mix ? the content is literary, with a couple of compelling short stories, impeccably read. At first I wondered, now wait, who are they? There was a young woman and man going to firing range to shoot a gun and I thought WHY? I wondered if the girl was the same one who was telling a story and exhibiting a hell of a healthy attitude about guns and I thought so why go and do that?! But this time, pay no attention to that listener behind the ether curtain, she?s still with you ? the outcue, tallying up who wrote and read and did what was all the explanation I needed. I got it. This program has a high WHAZZAT? Factor ? and pays it off. |

Review of Love & Radio: With a Bullet (clean and short)This was an intriguing piece to listen to. I thought it was very well-scored, and dealt with the subject of guns in a way we don't normally see or hear. I especially like how it raises personal questions for the listener and that it leaves general questions within each story unanswered. I also like it's honest nature, in that it isn't just telling a story, but it is relaying some of the inner emotions of the characters. At first I was skeptical about the subject matter: guns. But it was well worth the half hour. |

Review of Love & Radio: With a Bullet (clean and short)
A captivating piece! It was refreshing to hear people the open talk of things that sometimes as a kid you thought you were the only one thinking that way. The boldness of the kid rummaging through his father's dresser drawers -- how many of us wanted to do that -- or actually done it from time to time!
The voice of the main host is exceptional! I've listened to this twice now -- and I am looking forward to hearing some more in your LOVE & RADIO series. Please see my comment on the beeps in the Private Note to Producer.
Very good job on the music coordination and limited sound effects that I thought well acentuated this piece! I'm looking forward to hearing some more good work from you! Very, very enjoyable -- easy and pleasant to listen to. Wonderful change of pace.
We need more love and the idea you are on is very good! Keep it in that direction and work up some more along this line in this series, aye?! Very refreshing!
