Imagine what would happen if you went to the drug or grocery store, proceeded to the checkout with, say, 4 items, and then said “That’s alright, I don’t need a bag.”? The reactions you get are amazing! They range from sullen shrugs, to surprise, to stares, and from the very kind-hearted an “Oh no, let me get a bag for you.” Very seldom do you get the simple question “why?” Well, yesterday I got one. And I said “Because plastic bags come from oil.” And she said “Oh! Well that makes a lot of sense!” And we were both happy. Plastic bags and oil, today on BioSphere.
This whole adventure was inspired by my husband Kevin who had the bright idea to actually say the obvious instead of all the other things about not wanting to waste plastic and how we’d just throw it away when we got home anyway.
