Ruta Skujins is the current owner of the True Colors Bookstore in Minneapolis, which was formerly known as the women-oriented Amazon Bookstore. This feminist bookstore has been around since 1970 and when Ruta heard that their doors were closing in 2008, she quickly jumped at the chance to purchase it so that their legacy can continue. With a history degree from Carleton College and several writing classes under her belt, Ruta’s passion for literature has made her a great owner for the oldest feminist bookstore in the world. Her knowledge of lesbian fiction has also earned her a spot as a judge for the Golden Crown Literary Awards for the past several years.
