Women's History Month, Tina Welsh - March 30th

Series: Women's History Month
From: KUMD
Length: 00:01:30

We salute the work of Tina Welsh, Co-Founder of Minnesota’s Women’s Health Center. Read the full description.

Whm_3_small Tina Welsh has been an activist for women’s reproductive rights since the early 1970’s. In 1981, she and fellow doctor Jane Hodgson founded the Women’s Health Center. The Women’s Health Center services 24 counties in Northern Minnesota as well as fourteen in Wisconsin and four in Michigan. The Northland area is considered to be an area where cases of sexually transmitted infections are increasing rampantly and without Tina’s clinic, there would be many young women without a place to go for information and help. Tina is also an owner of the Building for Women, which is one of only three in the United States and houses many other non-profit organizations committed to health, safety, and justice for women.
