- Feature Report - Occupy Bloomington Eviction
- From
- WFHB
As of 3pm one small tent remained in the center of People’s Park in downtown Bloomington, and other in a nearby tree. Wednesday evening The City of Bloomington ordered that all personal belongings be removed and overnight occupation cease, but a noon deadline yesterday saw no official enforcement from the city, nor did the 11pm closing time of the public park. The rumored last straw for Mayor Mark Kruzan was an altercation on News Years Eve between citizens and police officers, and many worried that the eviction deadline may lead to a similar struggle. WFHB reporter Ryan Dawes went down to the park last night at 11 and spoke with occupier Logan Flores about the unexpectedly calm atmosphere, and the lack of any enforcement by the city of the posted eviction deadline, in this WFHB feature exclusive.
