STEPHEN RAHER: More than four hundred fifty workers in southeastern Colorado will be out of their jobs early next year. This after two companies announced the closing of local manufacturing plants this week. Denver-based Neoplan USA, a bus manufacturer, will be shutting down their Lamar facility. And Bay Valley Foods will close their pickle plant in La Junta. Molly Adams has our coverage.
MOLLY ADAMS: Neoplan announced its intentions to close its Lamar bus plant on Tuesday. Thirty-two people were laid off immediately. The number of jobs will continue to decrease until the plant’s official close at the end of January. In total, about three hundred people will lose their jobs. Lamar Mayor Nelva Heath is part of a five person committee that was created today to work with Neoplan to find a new automotive company that can utilize the abandoned factory.
