The popular 1960s songwriting team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David were not terribly thrilled about their latest assignment…. Write a title song for a film, the title of which consists of a single word…. A man’s first name. And, a not very “romantic” sounding first name at that! – But, when Paramount Pictures calls, one does not take that lightly! …And, a working composer and lyricist team does their best to create something worthwhile, relevant, and meaningful. Knowing that the film was a good one and likely to be a success, David and Bacharach gave themselves three weeks to come up with a quality song, and knew they were on the right track when David, studying the script, came upon the lead character’s line, “What’s it all about”?.... This triggered the creation of what Burt Bacharach now claims is the favorite of all his works, and a major hit…. Now, Minnesota’s Voice Debbie Duncan sings to us, “Alfie”….
