In this hour of The Blues & Beyond, it's one of our "Two-fers for You-fers" shows, two news cuts from each of five new albums. We've got the long overdue debut album from blues singer Sharon Lewis, who has been singing the blues in Chicago for decades. The album is called "The Real Deal," and, it is! Organist Joey DeFrancesco's new album is called 40, marking his recent entry into middle age with some solid bluesy organ trio jazz. DeFrancesco has been performing on the organ since childhood, introduced to the world of jazz, and to the organ, by his father, organist "Papa" John DeFrancesco. Also coming up a new album called "After" from cerebral jazz pianist Skip Wilkins, who put out two new albums in 2011. "After" was recorded a day before but issued months after, his album of standards "I Concentrate On You." We also have the debut album from bass clarinetist Jason Stein and his quartet in this hour, and it's great to see the bass clarinet in the center of things. Plus, the latest from Irish keyboard player Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill of the famed groups The Bothy Band and Nightnoise. Her album "The Key's Within" is full of evocative compositions on the keyboard with a subtle glaze of ambient vocals.
