Summertrail_small In the early and mid 1800s, mountain lions were common in southern Illinois.  However, due to habitat loss and un-regulated hunting they disappeared.  But now, many hikers and outdoorsmen are reporting sightings of this once common carnivore.  In this piece you will here two vivid accounts of people describing the thrill of being surprised by this majestic cat.
