The show opens with current wave bluegrass. Then our Gem of Bluegrass considers modernistic bluegrass takes on booze. These viewpoints are not as moralizing as some of those from the 1920s and 1930s. Then, on our Out in the Country series, we talk to Dale Thomas of West Brach, Iowa. For decades, he’s led pop and country dance bands, but after a half century of that, is rising to meet a new musical challenge: playing bluegrass dobro guitar in the Burlington Street Bluegrass Band.
