December 1, 2011: Katharyn Howd Machan is a Professor of Writing at Ithaca College. She has published 30 collections of poetry and won a number of awards for her work, including the Ravenswood Prize for poetry and the Cecil Hemley Award from the Poetry Society of America. In 2002 she was named the first Poet Laureate of Tompkins County. Her most recent book is a collection co-edited with poet Andre Cuda entitled One for the Road: Stories for Teenagers Whose Families Suffer from the Disease of Alcoholism.
