Intro and Outro

INTRO:

HOST INTRO:
Alzheimer’s researchers have used the word "tsunami" to describe the expected increase in cases of this incurable brain disease, as the baby boom generation reaches age 65. Some experts suggest the number of Alzheimer’s patients could triple by the year 2050.

Elder services providers say this explosion in demand for care will add to the financial stresses on not only Alzheimer’s patients and their families, but also the entire U.S. health care system.

In the final part of our week-long series, "Fade To Darkness: The Age of Alzheimer’s," reporter Deborah Becker looks at some of the challenges in preparing for, and paying for, Alzheimer's care in the decades ahead.

OUTRO:

HOST OUTRO:
That's Deborah Becker reporting. Our week-long series, "Fade To Darkness: The Age of Alzheimer’s," was produced by Iris Adler and George Hicks from WBUR in Boston.
