MATTIE LOYCE, IS A SOCIOLOGY MAJOR AT NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY. DURING CLASS, HER PROFESSOR ASKED EVERYONE TO VOTE ON WHETHER OR NOT TO JOIN OTHER N-U CLASSES IN A WALKOUT TO SUPPORT OCCUPY BOSTON. THE RESPONSE WAS UNANIMOUS. MATTIE AND HER CLASS GATHERED WITH OTHER STUDENTS IN THE SCHOOL’S QUAD AND BEGAN A TWO MILE MARCH TO THE DEWEY SQUARE CAMP IN DOWNTOWN BOSTON.

WHEN THEY ARRIVED, INSTEAD OF ENTERING THE CAMP, THE MARCHERS SAT DOWN ACROSS ATLANTIC AVENUE, BLOCKING TRAFFIC.

We walked here from Northeastern campus, all the way to Dewey Square, and I love that we sat in the street; it was great. I think it was a perfect peaceful movement, and we walked in a line linked arms holding hands and screaming our cheers...

INTRO:

College students have fueled the Occupy Wall Street movement since it began in September. Despite papers, midterms and exams they find ways to stay involved, be it in working groups or weekend protests.

Northeastern University student Mattie Loyce [[LOICE]] arrived at the Occupy Boston camp on Dewey Square with a wave of protesters after a two-mile march from Northeastern University.
