Formerly an Olympic dressage competitor, Joey suffered from years of abuse and neglect after retirement. When one of his owners nearly starved him to death, he was rescued and brought to Hope Reins. Despite years of maltreatment at the hands of humans, he has retained his gentle, giving spirit, serving as an inspiration to all those who meet him.
