Scott Schultz has been a comedian, journalist, photographer and editor for various newspapers, blogs and magazines, covering sports, music and science. He has been a regular contributor for LA Record, since 2008, and his work has appeared in L.A. Weekly, L.A. Times and Maxim En Espanol among others. As a comedian he has performed at clubs and colleges across the country. Having grown up in Marblehead, MA and moved to Southern California via Greyhound bus when he was 18-years old, Scott graduated from UCLA. He currently lives in the seaside town of Winthrop, MA and participates in storytelling and readings throughout Cambridge, MA. His favorite basketball movie is Hoop Dreams, and his all-time favorite basketball coach is John Wooden.

Eric Winick: Submitted for your approval: Scott Schultz, an aimless twentysomething from an affluent New England town, transplanted to Los Angeles – like many, chasing an elusive dream.

Scott Schultz: I was doing standup comedy in Hollywood, California and had basically hit the brick wall with my character, the Happy Slacker. I was approaching 30 and the character didn't age well. I didn't wanna be doing that into my 50s and decided that maybe college would be a good idea. But I wasn't a good student, so I didn't qualify for any schools because in high school I was probably in the bottom 2 or 3 percent of my graduating class. So I went to the local community college, Los Angeles City College, also known as City College or, among the kids in the gym, City. It was my fourth junior college and I was still a freshman.
