In this hour of The Blues & Beyond, we have the new album from Keb Mo, "The Reflection," on which he reaches back to his roots, even including his late grandfather's voice recorded over twenty years ago on one song, but also moves in a new direction broadening the scope of his music. We'll listen to several tracks including a poignant song about job loss. We'll also hear Keb Mo as part of a large global band Playing For Change, which recently put out their second album. The band includes the Senegalese musician Baaba Maal and many others. Also, two singers with somewhat wild names, Amikaeyla, and Trelawny Rose, pay tribute to the late jazz singer Eva Cassidy, on their album "To Eva, With Love." We'll also hear Ms. Cassidy herself in concert at Blues Alley. Cassidy was not well-known during her short life, but has achieved substantial success posthumously with albums like "Live At Blues Alley." We'll also hear organist Radam Schwartz with somewhat wild vocalist Miles Griffith, from Schwatrz's recent album "Songs For The Soul." Arnold McCuller, best-known as a backup singer for James Taylor, and in particular for his show-stopping part in the song "Shower The People" has a new album that we'll open up as well. Plus, a sadly prescient song about the late Amy Winehouse from Howard Tate, from his 2008 album "Blue Day."
