Researchers from the University of Texas and Australia's Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization have announced a major breakthrough in the world of nanotech materials manufacturing. Nanotechnology is the manipulation of particles as small as one/one billionths of a meter. These teams have produced industry-ready sheets of a material constructed of nano-tubes, which are tiny carbon tubes only a few times wider than atoms, that have remarkable strength and act as semiconductors. These fundamentally unique sheets are self-supporting, transparent and stronger than high-strength plastics or steel. The sheets are flexible and when heated emit light.
