scARRED    Part 1    The U. S. Army continues to shatter annual statistical records on soldier suicides.  We can now redefine "collateral damage" as the 1 in 5 returning vets coming home hyper-vigilant, checking-out roofs, windows and sewer grates as they walk down the street sleep-deprived, angry, stalked by waking nightmares and trying to stuff it all down with pills, smoke, blow and booze.   We assume that these deeply psychologically wounded soldiers have scarred by the stress of combat, but they are truly morally and spiritually injured due to witnessing or participating in torture.  Our guest today is award-winning journalist, Joshua E. S. Phillips, author of None of Us Were Like This Before.

scARRED    Part 2    Many of the military suicides, such as the deaths of friends Sergeant Adam Gray and Medic Jonathan Millantz are a part of the blowback of sanctioning torture!  We do not live conscience-free lives.  We need to understand this aspect of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as we ready to care for our returning veterans.   We return to our conversation with Joshua E. S. Phillips.
