Series: Blues & Beyond
From: WXPN
Length: 00:59:00
In this hour of The Blues & Beyond, it's the powerful blues singing of Demetria Taylor. Demetria's talent and heritage shine on a new album called "Bad Girl." The title comes from a song called "Bad Boy" that her father, the great Chicago bluesman Eddie Taylor recorded in 1955. We'll hear from him as well, and from one of Chicago's best contemporary blues players, Quintus McCormick, with a new album out that showcases his skills as a singer, guitarist, and songwriter . Plus, songs about Rio De Janeiro from Cassandra Wilson, Freddie Cole, and a new version of a movie classic about Rio from 1933, from singer Marc Pompe. Also, new music from guitarist Fred Fried and his trio, Core - - he plays an eight string guitar - - and from guitarist John Renbourn, ex of Pentangle, who actually can be heard regularly on both the opening and closing theme music for this show.
