In this hour of The Blues & Beyond, we'll open up the album "Okiesippi Blues" a collaboration between two creative and off-center blues guys, Watermelon Slim and Super Chikan. Watermelon Slim has worked at all sorts of jobs, including farming watermelons in Oklahoma, and Super Chikan (his spelling), is one of the most inventive and original delta blues artists around these days. Together they offer some exciting blues synergy. We'll also hear from pianist Skip Wilkins and his trio, and trumpeter Sean Jones and group from their latest releases, and we have new vocal jazz from Susie Meissner and Laura Ainsworth, who has just issued her debut album "Keep It To Yourself." And, music from Bentonia, Mississippi blues musician Jimmy "Duck" Holmes, Elvin Bishop's Raisin' Hell revue with singer Finis Tasby (whose mother apparently named him Finis - Latin for "end" or "finish" - because she wanted to have no more kids!), and the energetic jazz trio The Bad Plus, all coming up in this hour of The Blues & Beyond.
