Typewriter’s Broken
I hate cramps. You’d think that a 38, almost 39, year-old woman would be used to this, right? Not me. I’d gotten used to menopause. I hadn’t had a period since 1994 because I had my lifetime limit of chemotherapy and radiation that year during a bone marrow transplant. The chemicals and x-rays shriveled my ovaries into tiny raisin-like orbs. They hadn’t squeezed out even one viable egg since June 1994.
Until August 2006, apparently. With the egg came cramps and blood and feminine hygiene products. I prefer different types than my partner Liz, so I went shopping. Things have changed in twelve years.
