*** COLORADO AND IRAQ: THREE PERSPECTIVES ***
ERIC WHITNEY: On today’s show, we’ve got three perspectives on how the war America is fighting overseas is affecting people in Colorado. We start at Fort Carson, where another five hundred soldiers are shipping out for Iraq.
[brass band version of the “Army Song”]
WHITNEY: To the accompaniment of a recorded band, a tight formation of soldiers in tan desert uniforms assembled on a green field before the blue Rocky Mountains frosted with white on Wednesday at Fort Carson, to say farewell to the United States as they head overseas for a year’s service.
But unlike the approximately six thousand other soldiers from Fort Carson currently in Iraq, these troops aren’t focused on fighting, security and rebuilding, they’re there to save lives. Colonel Dennis Doyle commands the unit, the Tenth Combat Support Hospital.
