And Joey DeFrancesco is one of its modern masters — he grew up around the instrument since birth (his father is also a jazz organist), cut his first major-label album in his teens and has been honing his innate swing instincts since then. He's 40 now, and will celebrate with an eponymous album in September; at Newport, he brings a soulful trio to the Harbor Stage. Recorded live at the Newport Jazz Festival on Saturday, August 6.
