These days, it seems like everything on Television is
a reality show where all the contestants look alike.
Commentator Jess Mador (MAY-door) wonders why America's hair has lost its shine--and its politics.
I Googled the word hair the other day, and I couldn't
believe how many websites came up. There were sites
devoted to hairstyles, hair loss, hair care, hair
problems, hair products. even Websites where you can
purchase human hair.
I asked myself: What's the big deal about hair?
Hair has always been a touchy subject. Religions
around the world forbid women to show their hair in
public. In America, hair has often been a political
symbol-remember the pompadour, the Afro, hippie-hair,
or the Mohawk? Hairstyles told the world what side
you were on.

Review of Hair
This is a fun commentary about the place of hair, or lack of it, in our culture. Narrator Jess Mador shaves her head and reflects on the place of hair in our society. The text is well-written, and well-delivered. There is a nice use of music in the piece, and it would make a good humorous commentary for a magazine program.
