ROWS AROSE AND RECEDED... Read the full description.

Br_logo_small Rows arose and receded
Lapping the luminous lap.

This is a riddle about waves in the moonlight.  It's been said that riddles are the mingling of poems and guessing games:  My mother is a guessing game/ My papa is a poem/ And those who wish to know my name/ A wild goose chase I'll show 'em.  With the lovely alliteration of our wave riddle, we hear more of pappa poem in it than playful mama.   Here are two variations on the answer:  layers of nacre on a pearl, or the ripples from a rock tossed into a pond.

NEW RIDDLE:
We rest upon a staff
Though we are not all old
Some of us walk, some of us run
And all the while our story's told.
(answer:  see 7/30/11 piece)
