Transcript

Hello, I’m Candice Agree. Welcome to The Spanish Hour, a weekly program of classical music from Spain and the Spanish-speaking world. On today’s program, works by Roberto Sierra, Manuel de Falla, and Miguel del Águila, all recorded live in concert as part of Manhattan School of Music’s season-long series “Visiones: Music of Spain and Latin America.”

Much of Maurice Ravel’s was strongly influences by the heritages of Spanish music: his opera L’Heure espagnole, Rapsodie espagnole, Bolero, and this work, the Pièce en forme de Habanera. Originally for two pianos, Windscape plays an arrangement for wind quintet.
