This week on Science Weekly Alok Jha meets the environmental activist and writer on science Mark Lynas. Best known for his award winning book Six Degrees about the horrific consequences of global warming he is back with his new book The God Species. Alok discusses Mark's new work which lays out the nine eco-systems that sustain life and diversity on the planet. The book also discusses each systems boundry, beyond which the individual system begins to change and in turn creates a problem with the normal function of all the other systems. Alok also discusses Mark's very public falling out with the Green movement due to his support for nuclear energy and GM crops in our fight against catastrophic climate change.
Also on this weeks edition our reporter Anna Perman visits this years Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition, exploring the sounds and sights of the event as young scientists from around the UK gather to demonstrate their research.
