Mayer_small Recently, one of the two StoryCorps mobile recording booths spent a week on the Fort Berthold Indian reservation in North Dakota. There, Monica Mayer told her friend Spencer Wilkinson, Jr. how her father taught her the value of an education. Monica Mayer, now a physician, practices family medicine on the Fort Berthold reservation where she grew up. Her two sisters mentioned in this story, Holly and Renee, also serve the Fort Berthold community -- one in nursing and the other in social services.

Recently a StoryCorps Mobile booth spent a week on Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in North Dakota. That's where Monica Mayer (Mayor) grew up. Here she shares a memory from her middle school years with her friend Spencer Wilkinson, Jr.
