Transcript

Host Introduction: Each spring and fall, millions of migratory birds course their way across the United States to and from their summer breeding grounds. But increasingly, more and more birds do not complete the long journey.

In a basement freezer at Chicago's Field Museum is a bag of several hundred dead songbirds that will eventually be used for scientific research. The birds were picked up outside Baudette (buh-DETT), Minnesota, a town of about a thousand northwest of International Falls, on the Canadian border.
