The nation lost around 5 million anglers from 1996 to 2006. Idaho fishing dropped by 28% during that same decade. That's why Idaho Fish and Game is trying to lure anglers back with an old fashioned fish fry.

[HOST INTRO] This is Edible Idaho with Guy Hand, celebrating 2011: The Year of Idaho Food. (4:00 to soc out)
[SCRIPT]
(Sound of cooking) Hand: Today, I’m near Jerome, Idaho at Magic Valley Fish and Game’s second annual Fish Fry. In the warehouse behind the agency office, Fish and Game employees are cutting up over a hundred pounds of local fish, much of which they caught themselves. They’re breading it and slipping it kettles of simmering hot oil.
Papenberg: And in addition to fish, there are french fries and hush puppies being cooked up here . . .
