July 7, 2011: This week we feature poet and feminist scholar Jaime Warburton, visiting Assistant Professor in the writing department at Ithaca College. Her poetry and essays have been published in many magazines and literary journals, including The Broome Review, Dark Sky Magazine and Bitch Magazine.
Two of her poems will be forthcoming in the summer edition of Storyscape Literary Journal. In 2009, her first chapbook Note That They Cannot Live Happily was published by Split Oak Press.
Before coming to Ithaca College in 2007, Jaime taught at Concordia College in Westchester and the Gibbs school in Manhattan; she has also been a flute teacher, writing tutor, lexicographer, and underpaid barista. In 2006, she received the Thomas Lux Grant in recognition of excellence in both teaching and the written word, and in 2007 was nominated as one of the year's Best Emerging Poets. She can sing along with any song from 1995, but does most of her singing with the Fingerlakes Women's Chorale.
