Lisa Lerner: There was a lot of stuff to deal with after my mother passed away. Physical, material stuff. She saved everything. She had closets full of stuff, cupboards, trunks full of stuff. I went around with a movie camera and I filmed all her belongings. She kept my grandmother’s shoes from when my grandmother was a younger woman. These old lady shoes. Old fashioned shoes. And I was like, do I throw out my... What am I gonna do with these? She had scarves. She had so many scarves. She loved beautiful silk scarves. And they were beautiful, but I don’t wear scarves. This is like a collection of scarves, what do I do with them? But then it became so much. It was like an avalanche. I thought, I gotta put some of this in a box and I’ll deal with it some other time.
