I Was the Voice of Democracy by Brian Herrera
From: Camino Real Productions, LLC
Series: Theatre from the Land of Enchantment
Length: 57:19
Through autobiographical storytelling, this one man show offers a mix of analysis and anecdote (both hilarious and heartbreaking) as Brian puzzles through the memories, mementos and artifacts comprising the archive of his own teenage experience. By turns comedic and contemplative, Brian Herrera's "I Was the Voice of Democracy" asks whether we ever really stop being the person we once were. Brian Herrera's "I Was the Voice of Democracy" received its world premiere presentation as part of SoloFest 2010 at The Filling Station in Albuquerque (where it was selected as the Festival's closing night "Encore Presentation"). Subsequently, "I Was the Voice of Democracy" has been presented at Taos's Metta Theatre, at the Lama Foundation (San Cristobal, NM), Seattle's Annex Theatre, at Albuquerque's The Kosmos ArtSpace, and at the University of California at Los Angeles .
