Andreas von Huene began a career as an engineer, but was dissatisfied. He realized he wanted to be making things. While growing up, he developed a fascination for machinery and craftsmanship. After studying product design at Stanford he returned to Maine where he worked on a public art project and got hooked on stone carving. Andreas has been making sculpture for 20 years, and he doesn’t like limitations. He’ll work in steel, aluminum, wood, clay, and stone. He begins a new sculpture in stone and talks about the artistic process, from the technical to the aesthetic. Each step reveals the balance between engineer and artist.
