The North Shore of Lake Superior is well-known for its wide variety of artists, musicians and writers. Howard Sivertson is known throughout the region not only for his painting, but also for his role as a historian. The author and illustrator of several books on the history of Great Lakes shipping, the Voyageurs and life on the North Shore, Howard Sivertson has a lot to say. Howard Sivertson grew up in a fishing family on Isle Royale. He’s made a study of voyageur history and the Lake Superior fur trade. He’s also written a number of books on Isle Royal and the North Shore. But Howard Sivertson is best known for his paintings. Howard joins Jay Andersen for an hour-long talk as part of WTIP North Shore Community Radio's "Third Thursday Community Conversations."
