Richard Dawkins is a professor at Oxford, known internationally for his scholarship on evolutionary biology. The self-proclaimed atheist was in Colorado Springs last week to film a television piece on religion in the United States. In this interview, Dawkins talks to Western Skies' Stephen Raher about religion, science, and politics.

ERIC WHITNEY: This week, a court in Pennsylvania is hearing a case about whether a local school district can require the teaching of intelligent design in a science class. America’s debate over evolution is drawing attention from around the world, including from a British television network, who sent one of the leading evolutionary scientists of modern times, Richard Dawkins, to Colorado Springs. Dawkins will try to explain American ideas about religion and science to British television viewers. Western Skies’ Stephen Raher had a chance to talk with Dawkins about his observations.

Review of Richard Dawkins Interview
The interviewer provided Prof. Dawkins with pointed questions that allowed Dawkins to quickly get his humanistic philosophy across. I personally find Dawkins' universe a cold and meaningless existance, however he does do a fine job of defending and explaining it.
