Maltese_cross_small According to the National Fire Protection Association... 71% of Firefighters in the US are volunteers. With a long tradition, dating back to Benjamin Franklin and The Union Volunteer Fire Company of Philadelphia... they protect us on a daily basis.

Many of these fire departments conduct fund raising efforts through out the summer. "Country Club" is a first person narrative, creative non-fiction piece that honors the selfless service provided by these citizen volunteers... with a twist at the end.
