Mix_dorp_small In this hour of The Blues & Beyond, it's blues remixes from Mix & Dorp, who remixes blues recordings from the rich catalog of Black & Tan Records. Mix & Dorp is really just one guy, Jan Mittendorp, who plays guitar on many Black & Tan albums, and produces them, as well as touring with some of the artists such as Boo Boo Davis. In addition to the remixes, we'll play one of the original recordings used by Mix & Dorp from bluesman Harrison Kennedy-- and we also have remixes by other producers of songs from Sarah Vaughan and Robert Johnson. Also new music from the Bad Plus, a sizzling trio that plays jazz - - we think - - but it's with a unique point of view. Also a piece from pianist Vijay Iyer's trio of Indian musicians, and songs from the debut album of singer-guitarist-songwriter Eliane Amherd, and one from the new album from singer Jane Stuart.
