Ruffian is not forgottenI was 11 when Ruffian broke down in the match race with Foolish Pleasure. My mom and I were glued to our black and white Zenith. I can remember the music " I can do anything better than you...." and the ill fated moment. It is indelible in my memory. Thank you for you piece on the Super Filly, glad she is not forgotten. |

hold it
A short story about a great horse pulls me in like a long story about a great horse (Seabiscuit).
The family sat around the table to hear Zenyatta's run. We also read Seabiscuit out loud on a long car drive, refusing the pit stop to know in segments what would happen in a particular race, a ten page endeavor.
