As the 150th anniversary of the American Civil War is upon us, we have an interview conducted by Arts & Cultural Heritage Reporter Jeff Carmack with SCSU Ethics Professor Christopher Lehman. Professor Lehman has written a new book about the history of slavery in the Upper Mississippi Valley. This discussion of the complicated nature of slavery within the United States touches upon the legal and social cultures of Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota during the time of slavery, and also sheds light on various incidents of slavery that have been documented in St. Cloud.
