Ceremonywinklerbettertweakedprx_small Max Winkler switched coasts for his feature film debut. Born, raised, and educated in California, he envisioned the ambiance of the East Coast as the perfect setting for the comedy of idealistic love gone wrong that he directed from his own script. The interview reveals a man obsessed with details and with a respect for actors that is not unexpected from the son of one. We finished up by discussing the best advice his father, Henry, gave him, and how it came in handy.

Intro and Outro

INTRO:

Andrea Chase takes you Behind the Scenes of the film CEREMONY with its writer/director, Max Winkler. CEREMONY is an arch and tragic comedy centering on Sam, a hapless author of children’s books, given to romanticism of an unfortunately idealistic variety, and a penchant for red suits, who crashes the wedding weekend of the object of his affections, Zoe, an older woman of stunning beauty and possibly ambiguous feelings about her intended, an egoist of a wildlife filmmaker. During a momentous and life-changing few days, Sam reconnects and disillusions an old friend, bonds with his paramour’s boozy brother, and makes a startling discovery about whether or not age really is just a number. The film stars Michael Angarano, Uma Thurman, Reece Daniel Thompson, Lee Pace, and Jake Johnson.
