The Artist Speaks,
It was in January of this year that an American friend, visiting London insisted that I go to the Tate Modern Museum and see the Sunflower seed exhibit by Ai Weiwei (I way way). So one gray Sunday afternoon we went to The Tate Modern where we were hushed by the statement Mr. Ai had made with the seeds; about China, its history, modern economics, materialism and globalization. The huge atrium was stilled as those of us walking the seed bed perimieter pondered the power that over one hundred million hand made and painted porcelain sunflower seeds had provoked. Mr. Ai is a modern artist working in modern times and uses all the interactive media that is at his disposal.
