
The passionate love affair of Abelard and Heloise - and it's bloody aftermath - were the scandal of medieval Europe. Peter Abelard, renowned philosopher and shining son of the Church loved Heloise, daughter of his patron, on sight. She too, was caught up in the throes of a love at once forbidden and worth sacrificing everything for.
The discovery of their love, the birth of their child, and Peter's bloody and shocking assault by henchmen of Heoise's father were as widely talked about as the famous love songs Peter wrote for Heloise.
Their disgrace and banishment to individual wanderings by a vengeful church could not still their love, which continued via correspondence all their lives. Peter's death as a result of hardships imposed by the church led to his burial near Heloise, who kept faith and company with her beloved Peter the rest of their days. They are buried side by side.
This continuing series is self-explanatory by it's title and often features songs or period music as part of the soundtrack.
