Kirkland was a mainstay of the Detroit blues scene when John Lee Hooker was emerging as a star, and he played with Hooker on a number of recordings. He also had a hit on the Volt label in 1963 ("The Hawg") and made a number of great albums over the past half century. We'll also hear John Lee Hooker, including a track where Eddie Kirkland played lead guitar. We'll also play some blues from the man who wrote "Okie From Muscogee," though he never lived in Oklahoma, Merle Haggard, and we'll play a tune from an extraordinary jazz guitarist who was a native of Muscogee, Barney Kessel, with Bobby Hutcherson on vibes & Elvin Jones on drums. Plus, new music from Joseph Daley's Earth Tones Ensemble, from their album called "The Seven Deadly Sins," and Wayne Wallace's Latin Jazz Quintet; their latest is called "To Hear (sic) From There." Plus, sensational Brazilian guitarist Badi Assad from 1995 with a guitar masterpiece called "Pulo Do Gato."
